The Granite City was the location for the Royal Institution of Naval Architects’ inaugural Offshore Wind Summit in early October. The event, held in partnership with our friends at class society ABS, showcased some of the numerous innovations and developments in this rapidly-evolving segment of maritime.
Kicking off a series of intensive panels and discussions on Operation & Maintenance, Sustainability, Risk & Reliability, delegates heard opening speeches from David Davenport-Jones (ABS Business Development Director) and Bob Sanguinetti (CEO at Port of Aberdeen).
They were followed by a programme of presentations from industry pioneers including Jack Paterson of ORE Catapult (who was accompanied by Mark Goalen (Houlder COO) Jose Polimon Olabarrieta (Kincardine Offshore Windfarm)), Tim Stiven from Crown Estate (with Alan Crowle (university of Exeter) and Philip Lewis (Intelatus Global Partners)), Paul Bradley of HSE, Renjeev Kurup (UK HSE), Patricia De Almeida and Jon Bruce (ABS). Our thanks for their invaluable insights into the latest research, innovative technology, and governance in offshore wind.
If you were unable to attend this year, keep your eye for future summits to stay at the forefront of the offshore wind industry’s exciting future.
