Bahrain shipyard ASRY has strengthened its position in the LNG carrier repair and maintenance segment by securing approved certification from one of the leading designers and providers of cryogenic containment systems, Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT).

The accreditation recognises ASRY’s compliance with the required international standards for the repair and maintenance of LNG carriers. ASRY says it received this endorsement from GTT following a detailed assessment and review of its technical and operational capabilities, including shipyard infrastructure, expertise and workforce qualifications. By meeting GTT’s international standards, ASRY has reinforced its position as one of the leading Middle East yards for LNG carrier repairs.

ASRY has also recently signed two agreements with Italian companies which should enhance its ability to secure shiprepair work in the naval and cruise shipping sectors respectively. One agreement, with defence and security specialist Leonardo, centres on the development of naval repair and conversion projects, with the aim of attracting opportunities both from regional and global navies.

The second collaboration deal has been signed with DE Wave, a company active in cruise ship and yacht maintenance, repairs and systems development. This partnership will see ASRY step up its efforts to bring cruise ships to Bahrain for repairs and conversions, through benefiting from DE Wave’s technical and project management expertise.
