The August 2023 edition of the official journal of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects’ Australian division, The Australian Naval Architect, is now available free of charge.

As well as the usual round-up of section news, meetings and activities, you’ll find coverage of Incat Tasmania’s latest delivery, the 76 m high-speed passenger catamaran El Dorado Express, as well as the commissioning ceremony for the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS
Canberra.

Also in this issue: Dr. Kim Klaka relates a cautionary tale about the perils of model scale tests and full-scale measurements based on the experiences of building Jewel of Muscat, the replica of a 9th century Arabian dhow. Meanwhile, Phil Helmore presents a simple method for determining Harrison Lackenby’s time and space factors for the acceleration of ships.
