Benetti-FB703-250x200

A 3D sonar system fit for collision avoidance and man overboard (MOB) recovery is one of the key features of the latest Benetti megayacht to leave the blocks. Launched from the boatbuilder’s Viareggio yard in Tuscany in early August, the 500gt Bacchanal was fitted with the sonar system to boost onboard safety for the yacht’s guests and crew. The system can detect and relay information regarding any obstacles up to and over 500m from the vessel, and to identify bodies in the sea, Benetti claims – useful features given that, with a range of 4,000 miles at 10knots, Bacchanal has the capability to complete transatlantic trips.

Bacchanal, which was ordered by an anonymous Mexican owner, measures 47m in length, draws 2.45m and features a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and accommodation for 12 guests and seven crew. Benetti was responsible for all exterior styling, while development of the interior décor was shared between luxury superyacht architect Mauricio Gómez de Tuddo and the Benetti Interior Style Department.

Two MTU 12V engines provide Bacchanal’s power, granting her a cruising speed of 14knots. The vessel’s cockpit, dining area, main lounger and owner’s suite are situated on the main deck, divided by frameless, sliding glass doors, while the guests’ four cabins (including two VIP cabins) and the crew quarters are located on the lower deck.
