The RINA Contribution to STEM Award

The RINA Contribution to STEM Award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual, company, or organisation in inspiring children (18 and under) into the maritime industry and naval architecture, in particular.

The annual award celebrates those individuals, teams, and organisations who have made a real and lasting impact to inspiring people into maritime careers and raising awareness of the maritime industry in their local communities.

Individuals – those who have made significant contributions to promoting maritime careers are encouraged to be nominated for the RINA Contribution to STEM Award. This prestigious recognition by RINA celebrates outstanding efforts in fostering a thriving future for naval architects.

Companies – that have implemented initiatives to enhance their STEM offerings and/ or empowered their employees to undertake STEM and other associated activities.

Nominations can be made by any member of the global maritime community and will be judged by a panel of members of the Institution (in this case the Developing Careers committee with oversight from Secretariat) that will assess nominations on their contribution to growing maritime careers. Individuals may nominate themselves, however, when a self-nomination is made, contact details for at least one referee must be included in the nomination. Individuals may nominate their project, team, company, or organisation.

Excellence – commitment, leadership, and contribution to STEM

Impact – The impact that the person/project/ or initiative has made. Has the nominee made an impact above and beyond their immediate network?

Longevity – Will the project/programme have a lasting legacy? Are there continuation plans etc?

The RINA Developing Careers Champion Award

The RINA Developing Careers Champion Award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual, company, or organisation to Developing Careers. 

The annual award celebrates those individuals who have made a real and lasting impact by inspiring, supporting, and developing people through from first showing an interest in maritime careers into professionally registered naval architects.

Individuals, those who have made significant contributions to:

  1. promoting maritime careers; and/or
  2. facilitating initial development opportunities above and beyond what is reasonably expected; and/or
  3. mentoring those applying for professional registration; and/or
  4. any other activities that support developing naval architects,

are encouraged to be nominated for the RINA Developing Careers Champion Award. This prestigious recognition by RINA celebrates outstanding efforts in fostering a thriving future for naval architects.
