BP Shipping is the shipping organisation and centre for marine assurance within the BP Group. We operate an international fleet of crude oil tankers, product tankers and LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers. These ships are crewed by around 1,000 seafarers and lead the industry in terms of health and safety performance. These ships, supported by chartered tonnage, move BP’s own production, feed its refineries and markets, and carry third party cargoes. BP Shipping also manages coastal transport in several regions around the world. BP Shipping has approximately 400 shore staff based at the Sunbury headquarters and regional locations.
Through its industry-leading ship vetting system, BP Shipping provides an assurance to the rest of the BP Group on the quality of the vessels it manages and charters while its port clearance team ensures that the marine terminals visited by ships on BP’s business are safe and well managed.
In addition, BP Shipping offers marine design and technical services to other parts of the BP Group.
