PhD Candidate in use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the ship design process

Are you interested in artificial intelligence, data analysis and ship design? The Department of Marine Technology, NTNU, is offering a PhD scholarship on this topic within the KSP DREAMS project (Design Re-Engineering and Automation of Marine Systems). Together with our industry partners Ulstein, DNV and Pon Power, we aim to explore the application of various methods of the AI toolbox towards improving the ship design process.
For this position, you must have a relevant background in at least one of the following subjects:
- Marine systems design/naval architecture
- Information and communication technology (ICT), with focus on AI and data analytics
The position is open to master students graduating in spring 2025. The application deadline is 23.12.2024.

Company benefits
As a PhD candidate (code 1017) you are normally paid from gross NOK 532 200 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The period of employment is 3 years.
Appointment to a PhD position requires that you are admitted to the PhD programme in Engineering within three months of employment, and that you participate in an organized PhD programme during the employment period.
