What you will be doing.
- Lead surveys of vessels in casualty and pre-risk situations.
- To be familiar with all aspects of ABL Maritime services and key deliverables.
- To attend to casualties and determine the nature, extent, and cause of damage.
- Estimate costs of repairs and subsequently compile reports for Clients.
- Carry out loss prevention surveys
- Carry out Marine Warranty Surveys
- Assist in the preparation of tenders and proposals with maritime business.
- Ensure all operations, deliverables and quality of reports are by approved instructions, and ABL procedures and policies.
- Abide by specific internally established control systems and authorities, to lead by personal example and encourage others to conduct their activities under the applicable laws and the Company’s standards and policies including its QHSE policies.
- Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by management and client.
Other duties as assigned.
The role is based in Houston and the incumbent will have the right to work and reside in the United States.
What we are looking for.
- Chief Engineer STCW III/2 or equivalent level of academic and practical experience (e.g. BEng Engineering).
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant professional experience with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in marine surveying.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of repairing ship structures, machinery, failure investigation, vessel salvage and ship technical management.
- Solid understanding of the marine casualty investigation process.
- Able to translate thoughts into well-written documents.
- Technically and commercially astute.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients.
- High level of competency in written English to produce complex technical reports and appraisals.
- ISM Auditor Qualifications.
- Fleet technical management.
- Seagoing experience on commercial vessels.
- Other applicable experience (ship repair, salvage, MWS etc).
