Naval Architect

Red is recruiting on behalf of a maritime company for a Naval Architect role based in Aberdeen.

As the Naval Architect, you will be responsible for undertaking project assessment, client interaction, tendering support and detailed engineering work alongside product development and R&D activities in support of Renewable Department objectives.

– Contribute to planning and delivery of engineering technical activities.
– Consult with clients regarding work specifications, maintaining effective client interfaces.
– Quality assurance of work performed by self and colleagues, ensuring compliance and alignment to all company procedures, industrial standards, and specific client requirements.
– Support team members with technical and commercial requirements.
– The candidate will exposed to multiple fields and aided to develop the experience to become a go-to expert in one or more chosen fields of expertise (e.g. mooring analysis, hydrodynamic analysis, vessel motions, riser design, etc).
– Provide expertise on technical issues to ensure maximum possible conversion ratio from quotes to orders.
– As required provide input / support to tendering and business development activities.
– Liaise closely with the Renewables Manager to ensure they remain informed of all technical issues.
– Liaising with Clients and updating project status under supervision.
– Prepare quotes and costs for clients as applicable.
– Detailed engineering work, including but not limited to, mooring analysis, offshore installation analysis, hydrodynamic analysis, quayside mooring analysis, dynamic cable design
– Attend project meetings, project progress report, liaising with clients and contractors as necessary.
– Ensure quality control standards are being maintained and implement quality control programmes where necessary.
– Occasional offshore visits may be required on an ad-hoc basis and so too may be international travel e.g. to attend client meetings/conferences etc.
