Contributing Editor (Volunteer)

The Naval Architect magazine is undergoing a number of changes. A significant number of members expressed the desire to contribute to the publication on the history of Naval Architecture. As a result, we will be introducing a regular feature where the members of the Institution can write articles based upon the three areas below.
THE NAVAL ARCHITECT is looking for volunteers to become CONTRIBUTING EDITORS. Experience in all areas will be considered but the following specific areas are required immediately:
• Maritime History
• History of Naval Architecture
• Historic Vessels
What you will do:
• Write an article or series of articles covering one or more of the topics above.
• Provide the Managing Editor with the copy in an agreed format by the agreed deadline.
• If possible supply High Resolution images to support the article.
What do you need for this role:
• Enthusiasm
• Good interpersonal skills
• Access to a PC/laptop
Potential time commitment: Varies according to workload and the time you can commit.
Team: RINA Media Team
Responsible to: Managing Editor of The Naval Architect
Role specific requirements:
• Compliance with the RINA Code of Conduct, Vision and Values.
• Compliance with the RINA Editorial Guidelines.
This role involves:
• Provide mater-specific expertise in a particular field and collaborate with the Managing Editor.
• Fostering strong relationships with the academic community, researchers, and professionals in the field and staying informed about industry trends, emerging research areas, and best practices.
• Delivering articles as required by the Managing Editor on a range of topics related to Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering.
Training and Support:
RINA will provide training for the role and adequate support through the secretariat.
Key skills required of a Contributing Editor are:
• Adequate time to contribute to the effective undertaking of the role.
• Experience in writing feature articles would be an advantage but not a requirement.
• A broad appreciation and understanding of relevant Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering with specific specialist knowledge in one or more areas.
Term in role:
Initial term of three years. This can be extended with the agreement of both the Contributing Editor and the Managing Editor.
