Baltic Workboats is hoping to woo the naval and law enforcement sectors with its Patrol 12 RIB series, developed to serve as a flexible, high-speed interceptor with the clout to undertake anti-piracy and counter-terrorist strikes, as well as general patrol and search and rescue (SAR) work.
The boat incorporates a modular deck layout, and can be customised with various propulsion options: up to three diesel outboards, or two diesel inboards working with sterndrives or waterjets. The RIB features an overall length of 11.9m, a 3.6m beam and a draught of 0.8m, plus the capability to accommodate a payload of more than 2.4tonnes.
The Patrol 12 RIB also features a stepped hull, for enhanced handling and seakeeping when operating within a speed band of 40-65knots, and a detachable wheelhouse with ballistic protection: the size of the wheelhouse can be customised as per end user requirements. Machine guns up to 12.7mm-caliber can be mounted on the bow.
Baltic Workboats reports that the Patrol 12 RIB will enable a range of between 200-500nm, and offer up to 17 shock-mitigating, removable seats for operatives, as well as options for thermal imaging cameras, trim tabs and search lights. The vessel has been designed to tough it out in heavy weather up to sea state 5.
