The Canadian based company Deep Trekker Inc. has just launched at Nor-Shipping 2017 its latest product a magnetic three-wheeled inspection/survey utility crawler for the marine and offshore sector.

With magnetic wheels, the DT640 can crawl along vertical angles to inspect the integrity of ship’s hulls even underwater. Instead of dry-docking or returning to shore, crew can immediately inspect the hull via the live video on the handheld controller. Claiming skid-less steering and zero turning radius the DT640 to manoeuvre in tight areas and over tough surfaces. Rare earth magnets allow the DT640 to climb in almost any direction on ferrous materials.

The compact design makes it extremely portable and allows for easy Hull Inspection with MagCrawlertransportation. It is designed to be able to launch immediately for any location, and with a 400m tether and internal batteries that can provide up to 8 hours of work in a single 1.5 hour charge. The crawler is submersible to 50 meters and its modular construction allows for the unit to be equipped with multiple operational attachments including; pressure washer to remove dirt, debris, rust scale or invasive species, vacuum head to remove sediment build-up, Cygnus thickness gauge attachment, an extra auxiliary elevating camera and a dozer attachment to scrap and clean away hard marine growth.

The basic DT640 magnetic crawler will costs about US$18,750 with the various additional purpose-built attachments as extras.
