Hybrid-powered ro-pax ferry 'Cap De Barbaria' featured in last year's edition of Significant Small Ships

The Ship & Boat International team has commenced work on Significant Small Ships of 2024: the latest edition of the RINA annual, profiling first-in-class and unique vessels sized 5-100m and delivered this year.

Naval architects, boatbuilders and vessel owners are invited to send in their entries for consideration. We cover a wide range of vessels within this size bracket, from service operation vessels (SOVs) and fast ferries to RIBs and harbour tugs. Vessels accepted for Significant Small Ships of 2023 included the 82m x 15.5m, diesel-electric ro-pax ferry Cap De Barbaria (pictured), designed by Cotenaval and built by Astilleros Armon Vigo, which achieved a 35% improvement in efficiency compared to its predecessor on the route.

To submit your entry, please contact Martin Conway (mconway@rina.org.uk) or Lydia Perry (lperry@rina.org.uk) and we’ll get straight back to you with the entry criteria and technical particulars form. Significant Small Ships of 2024 will be published in March 2025.
