Student Ambassador

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) is looking to appoint Student Ambassadors who will act as a role model and motivator whilst providing a vital link between RINA and their fellow students. We are actively encouraging Students who are studying to gain an academic qualification in a subject relative to the design, construction and maintenance of marine vessels and structures. As an Ambassador you will be on hand to offer support, encouragement, and advice when needed.

Background

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects is a world-renowned and highly respected international professional institution and learned society whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of all marine vessels and structures. The Institution has members in over ninety countries and is widely represented in industry, universities and colleges, and maritime organisations worldwide.

Membership of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, and the right to use the letters FRINA, MRINA AMRINA or Assoc(RINA) after the member’s name, demonstrates the achievement of internationally recognised standards of professional competence and the commitment to professional integrity and high standards of practice governed by the Institution’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Act as a champion for RINA – Be the main point of contact for Students.

• If applicable, connect university with regional branch activity.

• Arrange a welcome seminar for student members.

• Highlight the benefits of free student membership.

• Arrange meetings with other social reps.

• Promote RINA awards and scholarships.

• Demonstrate to employers a commitment to marine profession.
